About

About StoryHelm

StoryHelm is an AI manuscript-intelligence platform for indie series authors. It reads and analyzes an entire fiction series, catches continuity errors before readers do, and never writes or rewrites the author's prose.

What it reads

StoryHelm builds a canon of characters, places, factions, items and events for each book, and gathers every book's canon in your Series Atlas. You can confirm or correct any entry; a book's canon updates when a read runs. The Series Bible exports as PDF, DOCX or Markdown.

A Full read (the Author, Series and Studio plans, and the free trial at public launch) checks each book against its own canon and flags contradictions inside it, often quoting the line that raised it, including timeline conflicts and foreshadowing setups and payoffs. The Writer plan runs a Quick scan.

A cross-book check you start compares, between books: the appearance and distinguishing marks each book records for characters with the same or a nearly identical name; how a character speaks, when they have 20 or more lines of dialogue in each book; and, between two fully read books, the same event given a different year, month or season, or a different length. Each finding names both books and shows what each one records, without quoting passages. Names and renamed characters, world rules, relationships and ranks, places and distances, who knew what, and timelines beyond the same event's dates are not compared across books. There is no master series timeline.

What it never writes: your prose

You write every word of your book yourself, in StoryHelm's built-in editor or in files you import. StoryHelm reads it; it never drafts or rewrites your prose. Two disclosed features produce text that isn't your manuscript, and we say so wherever this promise appears: Ship Dock drafts pitch material about the book (query letter, synopsis, logline, back-cover blurb) for you to review and edit, and Translation Studio produces machine-generated translated editions of a finished book.

How it is built

61 analysis passes across 7 workflows, powered by Claude. A Full read runs nineteen of them on each book.

Your manuscript

Neither StoryHelm nor Anthropic trains any model on your manuscript. It is processed to produce your results, and Anthropic keeps API inputs and outputs for a limited window before deleting them. To have your data exported or deleted, email scott@storyhelm.com and a person handles it. The privacy notice has the detail.
